A bill backed by the Transport Workers Union of America that was reintroduced Friday would provide billions of dollars annually to help transit agencies increase bus and rail service.

To prevent crippling cuts to public transit – as well as layoffs – hundreds of transit workers rallied at Pennsylvania’s Capitol Building in Harrisburg in May to support Gov. Shapiro’s plan for additional Commonwealth funding.

TWU Local 248 members at the Winston-Salem Transit Authority recently ratified a new three-year contract that provides significant wage increases and keeps intact existing contract language despite a recent change in operators.
